About Gujarat Cancer & Research  Institute

The Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute (GCRI) was founded in the year 1972. It is an independent body which is on the whole managed by the Gujarat Cancer Society (GCS) and the Government of Gujarat. GCRI is also acknowledged as the chief Regional Cancer Center by the Government of India. GCRI is moving itself towards establishing itself as the leading institutes in the field of Cancer care and Research on the entire world. GCRI in the year 2009-2010 moved towards a lot of achievements. It introduced Sanjivani Rath – contemporary mobile diagnostic aid for the rural Gujarat,the institute also introduced the Health Passports for awareness and prevention of cancer and major non transmittable diseases, in this year the institute established telemedicine ties with different hospitals of the state. MCI also added more seats of GCRI for the DM Medical Oncology and MCH Surgical Oncology programs. Additionally the institute took initiatives in oncology nursing training to look after the needs of specialized oncology nurses. GCRI also completed more than a hundred bone marrow transplantation this year.
