About Salem Institute for  Mentally Challenged

Salem Institute for Mentally Challenged - SIMEC originated as a day care centre for the physically and mentally handicapped children. It was found in 2000 as an inspiration from a cerebral palsied child, Late Master Nitin Venkataram. Helping special people overcome the human sufferings who hardly ever complain and have innocent desires is the overall aim of the organization. This non profitable charity organization has been approved by the Tamil Nadu State Government and Government of India as a training institute for the mentally under developed children aged between 8 months and 16 years. The institution works under the supervision of Dr. A. Chandrasekan and Mrs. C. Mahalaxmi and their team whose dedication and hard work has made SIMEC a source of comfort and well being of the special children. SIMEC works to provide sustained high quality sensitive care, health and nutritional services, constructing services and facilities for creative education, learning and leisure activities through a team of committed professionals.
