About Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga  Sanskrit University

Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University (KSDSU) is a state owned university which was founded in the year 1961 in the premises of Laxmishwar Vilas Palace in Dharbanga. This university was established in order to dedicate teaching to the young, to promote Sanskrit language and to impart top quality education in its jurisdiction which covers the whole area of Bihar. This university is a palace of Maharaja Kameshwar Singh which was his ancestral palace and was donated to use as a university in order to promote Sanskrit. Darbhanga University also functioned as a resource centre for manuscripts with a vast collection of 5562 rare manuscripts present in the world. Among the collections include agama, philosophy, tantra, epics etc. The Darbhanga University is also affiliated with University Grants Commissions in India. Palm manuscripts and paper manuscripts are also preserved here. The university further provides postgraduate courses and has postgraduate departments consisting of Dharma Shastra, Jyotish, Ayurveda and Veda. The Darbhanga university has made its mark over the years in teaching Sanskrit language and will prosper in future in the same manner.
